Job Specification

A housekeeping internship abroad is a very versatile position. Responsible for gaining knowledge and working in the capacity of supervision of the daily operations of the Hotel Housekeeping department in accordance with hotel property's standards. Candidate will rotate through various duties within Housekeeping areas as scheduled to gain optimum training opportunities. Given that the main objective is to provide the best service possible to customers and the hotel guests, missions may vary. From the front office to the cleaning service, the housekeeper has to interact and connect with all hotel’s actors. A housekeeper internship will show you how important it is to take care of even the smallest details to satisfy customers.


Job Responsibilities

  • Learning how to check rooms
  • Clean designated areas including, but not limited to, restrooms, public areas, offices and banquet/meeting/conference rooms
  • Perform tasks including, but not limited to, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, shampooing carpets, washing windows, cleaning/waxing floors, removing and disposing of trash and emptying ashtrays.
  • Helping to organize the cleaning service schedule according to the occupancy rate.
  • Supervising and helping with other services: luggage, front office, restaurant etc.
  • Greet guests in a friendly manner & answering requests with diplomacy
  • Stock and maintain supply rooms, as needed
  • Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects (for example: mattress flipping, furniture moves, etc.), as needed
  • Deliver guest requests and assist in cleaning guest rooms, as needed

  • Ability to listen to directions
  • Great organizational skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once


Job Requirements

  • All internship candidates must be for requiring school credit or experience for the internship, in a related field of study.
  • Must be currently enrolled or a recent graduate of a college or university and in the Hospitality & Tourism or related field.
  • Able to work minimum of 48 hours per week with flexibility on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Energetic and quick to learn.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Able to stand, twist, bend, push, pull, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis for periods of up to 10 hours a day.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
  • Exceptional communication with guests, management and co-workers.
